Sausage and Shrimp Baked Rigatoni with Banza Pasta

Happy Friday Everyone!


I am SO excited to be in Ohio for one of my best friend’s wedding this weekend. This year has been jam packed with weddings for us and we are so grateful for all of the travel and fun we have gotten to experience. I know the wedding this weekend is going to be absolutely beautiful and I cannot WAIT to see my friend of 18+ years marry the love of her life.


With all of the fun events going on in our lives, I am especially mindful of what I eat. I want to absolutely feel my best because nothing is worse than getting all dressed up and feeling blah. It also means we are indulging at little bit at weddings, so beforehand I like to keep things clean and simple. I know I have spoken about my health journey a lot, but previously I used to eat pasta like it was my job (P was the same way). We both LOVE fresh pasta and it definitely is our weakness. Luckily there are so many ideas out there to clean up your pasta dishes, but when veggie noodles just won’t cut it, I turn to Banza pasta. I can tolerate chickpeas and I love how their pasta is an amazing source of protein and fiber.

The recipe I created is one of my all time favorites from growing up and I was thrilled with how my cleaner version came out. This meal SCREAMS comfort and the best part is that is is completely without the guilt.

1 box Banza rigatoni pasta

½ hot italian sausage (read your labels!!)

½ peeled and deveined shrimp

3 bell peppers sliced thinly

1 cup nutpods original dairy-free creamer

1 tbsp cayenne pepper

1 tbsp garlic granules

Salt and Pepper to taste

Optional: Shredded parm cheese to taste



  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil and add in your box of Banza pasta. Cook for 5 minutes (it will continue to cook in the oven)

  2. In a separate pan cook your sausage, shrimp and peppers. Add in your nutpods and seasoning and bring to a simmer.

  3. Transfer your pasta and sausage, shrimp and peppers to a casserole dish.

  4. Top with a sprinkle of parm cheese and bake in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes.

  5. Enjoy :)
