Sunday Stories - 4/30/17

Hi All! We have been traveling life crazy so I apologize for the delayed Sunday Stories, but I do have so much to share with you! 

We are officially on day 7 of Whole 30, and I am so excited to share our experience so far as well as the motivation behind our Whole 30 journey. We have made an effort to eat healthy for a while, but have never done a full Whole 30 and after hearing how amazing my brother and sister in law feel after completing their own journey, I was intrigued to start. I have read the book multiple times and have always wanted to start, but felt I needed to be in the right mind set and have the appropriate motivation. Lately I have felt so sluggish and really just not myself so I felt like the Whole 30 would be an amazing reset for my body and since my end goal is not weight loss I felt I could be more successful in my journey. I have also had an up and down relationship with alcohol lately because I find myself in situations where drinking is such a key part of our free time, but I hate how it makes me feel and how it shows on my body. I am in a new city and I decided this could be a great opportunity to get to know my surroundings and push myself to be more outgoing by cutting out alcohol. 

I am happy to report that we have made it to day 7. It was a bit of a rough start for me because I had to cut out chocolate which is my everything. By day 4 I was starting to feel lighter and more positive about Whole 30. Once you figure out what snacks and food items work for you within the guidelines, it can really be quite fun to experiment and create new recipes. We have made some recipes I cannot wait to share with you and I am certain they will be apart of our weekly meal rotation even after the 30 days. Something Whole 30 has brought to light in my life is how little I read the labels of the food I buy. Once you have a reason to it will amaze you at how much junk is in a lot of the food we eat. Sure, its hard to give up cheese and wine and chocolate, but the education I have gained on food throughout even just the first 7 days is so worth it.

Below are some highlights from this week in the kitchen and one picture of my pup for good measure! We have been cooking up a storm and I cannot wait to share the recipes with you all! Soon to come is homemade ghee and the way I like to boil eggs so stay tuned :)
