Sunday Stories - 4/2/17
Hi everyone! I hope y'all had a great week! I was a bit under the weather so this week was pretty uneventful. Luckily I rested a ton and was ready to go by the time the weekend rolled around! We headed to Charleston this weekend for the Cooper River Bridge run + a fun filled weekend with close friends. This weekend was right in the middle of my birthday and our good friend's birthday so we thought Charleston would be the perfect place to celebrate.
Friday night was very low key since we had a 3 hour drive from Charlotte plus a 5:30am wake up call to make it to the race. We pretty much went to bed right when we got into town. Saturday was race day! We had gorgeous weather and were all ready to put all of our training to use. If you haven't done this race, it is absolutely breath taking. I was so excited to be able to run with my Dad this year and happy to report we both #gotoverit :)
After the race we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and head over to my favorite beach on Sullivan's Island. We came prepared with a football and beach chairs and decided we would just hang out and let our bodies rest after the race.
By Saturday night we were all exhausted, but managed to make it to Fleet Landing for dinner per the birthday boy's request. He has gotten their whole flounder before and just had to come back for seconds. I have to say we all had amazing meals, but after a bite of his flounder I was pretttty jealous I didn't order it. The restaurant is located right on the water and is such a beautiful place for dinner in the city. I would definitely recommend heading to Fleet Landing for a meal if you find yourself in Charleston. After dinner we headed over to a new spot, Gentry's, for some amazing cocktails and live music. Even with their grand opening the service was incredible!
Last but definitely not least, we decided to treat ourselves to Sunday brunch before we hit the road. I have been dying to try Tavern and Table so I was so happy to hear their wait wasn't two hours. We started brunch off with some cocktails of course. I think the crowd favorite was the Vanilla Coconut Coffee which is spiked just the right amount and dairy free! My friend and I were both torn between the bagel lox and the lemon ricotta pancakes so we decided to order both and share, which was the best decision ever. Our meal was the perfect amount of sweet and savory. The bagel lox came on a thin everything bagel so it was not too overpowered with bread and the caper dill spread was soooo flavorful! I normally do not have a huge sweet tooth at brunch, but these pancakes were some of the best I have ever had. The lemon curd and blueberries were mouth watering and the pancakes themselves were so light and moist. I am drooling just thinking about them again! Tavern and Table was definitely has one of the best atmospheres as well as food/drinks. We will definitely be heading back again - next time for dinner!
That is all for this week:) We are heading back to Charleston next weekend so stay tuned for even more restaurants to check out and fun things to do!
